Smetana The Moldau
Mendelssohn Violin Concerto (Chloe Hanslip)
Tchaikovsky Symphony no. 6
Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 also known as the Pathétique Symphony, is his final completed symphony, full of the emotion and passion that its title describes and remains one of the greatest symphonies ever written. In the first half of the concert, the Czech National will perform the Moldau from Smetana’s Ma Vlast (My Homeland) evoking the delightful sounds of one of Bohemia’s great rivers and surrounding countryside, close to the hearts of this particular orchestra. Chloe Hanslip, one of our own ‘national treasures’ will perform Mendelsohn’s ever popular and lyrical violin concerto.
