Edgeland, n., a transitional area between urban and natural worlds
Amanda was having a really bad day.
Then she vanished.
Seven years later, on a natural history tour of a nature reserve, the mystery of her disappearance can finally be solved. There’s just one problem. The only witnesses are plants and animals. And they are, quite frankly, a bit fed up with the endless drama of human beings.
Gripping, playful, and inspiring, Edgeland, is an outdoor experience that blends theatre, nature and technology in a celebration of human and natural communities.
Edgeland takes place on Sweet Briar Marsh in Norwich, with audiences taken on a journey through the reserve. Blending immersive 3D audio experienced through headsets and live performances, the show treats the whole landscape like a stage.
Presented by Limbik Theatre, in partnership with Norwich Theatre and Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Edgeland has been co-created with communities and in conversation with wildlife experts. It is supported by funding from Arts Council England and Norwich Freemen’s Charity.
Based in Norwich, Limbik Theatre are the Associate Company of Norwich Theatre. They create new experiences across live and digital spaces, where the epic becomes intimate…and vice versa. https://www.limbiktheatre.com/
‘…It’s nothing like anything on offer, certainly in Norfolk at the moment, and it’s inspiring seeing theatre being produced in different and creative ways.’ East Anglian Theatre Podcast on Limbik’s previous show ‘Rebel Rabble’, created for Mousehold Heath.

Edgeland takes place on a nature reserve, with audiences moving around the site. You are encouraged to check the weather forecast in advance and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
The marsh is an exposed area that provides little cover from either the sun or rain. In the event of hot weather, you are strongly advised to bring a water bottle, as water is not available on the site.
The performance will continue during light to medium rain. If the weather forecast dictates, you are encouraged to bring an umbrella and wear suitable wet-weather clothing.
The route of the show includes gently undulating and regularly uneven paths. These paths can become soft after/during wet weather. Please wear supportive, comfortable footwear with a good grip.
You are encouraged to use the facilities prior to arrival at the performance. There are facilities on the marshes; however, at points during the performance, you may be up to ten minutes from them. Using the facilities during the performance could therefore result in you missing a significant proportion of the show.
If arriving by car, please note there are facilities at Sloughbottom Park, but there are no facilities at Hellesdon Mill Car Park or Hellesdon Road Riverside Walk Car Park.
From the start to the endpoint, you will travel approximately 2.5km during the performance.
Edgeland is not a performance primarily designed to be experienced seated.
Audiences who require it may choose to bring light camping stools, walking-stick seats or ‘shooting sticks’, which they will need to carry themselves for the 75-minute duration of the performance. Please note, however, that the audience experience is rarely static for more than a few minutes at a time, and that choosing to sit may obscure sightlines.
For evening shows, cancellation decisions will be made by 2:00 pm on the day of the performance. For matinee shows, cancellation decisions will be made by 10:00 am on the day of the performance. In both cases, Norwich Theatre Box Office will contact bookers by phone (if a number has been provided) and by email.
If, in the event of a bad weather forecast, you are unsure whether you have received a Norwich Theatre communication, please check that a performance is going ahead by phoning the Box Office on 01603 630 000
In the event of a performance being cancelled (either before or during a show), Norwich Theatre Box Office will offer you the chance, availability permitting, to transfer your ticket to another performance date. Where this is not possible, you will receive a full refund.
For more information about the site, please visit https://www.norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk/SweetBriar. Please note that the performance route does not significantly use the Grade 1 accessible path.
