MEAT is an electrifying roar of fury, a rallying cry of protest & unifying celebration of strength packed with heroism & heart.

A playful and poignant exploration of identity. Written by multi-award winner Elle Dillon-Reams, ‘Best Newcomer’ The Scotsman.

Shame breeds in silence, this show gives a safe space to roar, for anyone who’s got a body. In an age of patriarchy, where women’s bodies are commodified objects, MEAT is an electrifying roar of fury, a rallying cry of protest & a unifying celebration of strength packed with heroism &heart.

Follow ‘A girl’ from age 9 into her 30s, detailing her journey through puberty, misogyny, and identity. A solo performer, but a story that is all of ours. Based on verbatim accounts. MEAT is a playful and poignant exploration of identity. A dirty dive into the foundations of power, an injection of a new narrative.

Reviews

A dirty dive into the foundations of power, an injection of a new narrative – MEAT is a theatrical hybrid of poetry, clowning, cabaret and dance featuring original music. ‘Memories demand attention because memories have teeth’
Viola Davis

A theatrical hybrid of poetry, clowning, cabaret and dance featuring original music written by multi-award winner Elle Dillon-Reams, ‘Best Newcomer’
The Scotsman.

MEAT played to sell out audiences in Edinburgh Festival 2023, written and performed by award winning artist Elle Dillon-Reams. Exploring themes of identity, power, gender and sexuality, there are some dark and painful moments in the play. But there’s also a playful energy, a witty self-awareness and a great big heart. It shakes you to the core, then gently brings you back to yourself, decompressing with an almighty, empowering roar. ‘
Three Weeks Edinburgh

MEAT is an absolute powerhouse of a production. It has everything that a theatrical production on the fringe circuit would need and yet it is miles ahead of what the industry is achieving. It is emotional, it is powerful, it is utter perfection.
