Film Screening: Name Me Lawand

Close

This event has passed.

A free screening of Name Me Lawand, followed by a panel discussion.

Void of any language, communication or true sense of self, Lawand struggles to piece together his surroundings in his new home in Derbyshire after a traumatic and turbulent year of seeking asylum through Europe. An inspirational and touching coming-of-age story.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Norwich City of Sanctuary, Sanctuary Ambassadors as well as Matthew Talbot, Chief Executive of Deaf Connexions. It will be BSL interpreted.

The event is complemented by an archival display of previous Theatre of Sanctuary creative outcomes, and poetic material derived from research undertaken into cultural aspects of health and wellbeing. This research was led by Dr Emily Clark, GP, and Dr Sarah Hanson, UEA, Professor in Community Health working with The Zainab Project CIC, a local organization giving refugees and people seeking asylum transferable skills in community settings in the heart of Norwich.

Tickets are free but must be booked.
