Maritime Hamlet
06 Jan 18:00
All aboard the good ship, Elsinore!
Water flows through the works of William Shakespeare. The sea turns tides, carves out plots and explores emotions. In response to the ‘titanic’ RSC tour of Hamlet arriving in Norwich on 10th March, this project will write and perform a new sea shanty.
Shanties were originally performed by multicultural crews whose only shared language was song. These became living, breathing pieces of history, connecting us to the lives and loves of the worlds the crew inhabited.
Join us and dive deep into sharing the joy and camaraderie of song. A chorus of voices, in the genre of traditional folk song, continuing our partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Shakespeare Nation.
You don’t need to be a good singer – all we ask is that you bring enthusiasm and a willingness to join in.
