Norwich Hamlets is a collection of community responses to Hamlet, created with Norwich communities throughout 2025. Shakespeare Nation is a Royal Shakespeare Company project produced in partnership with Norwich Theatre, funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
Take a journey through our city to experience five unique performances. Norwich Hamlets includes both indoor ticketed performances and outdoor public performances.
This ticketed option will allow you to see all five performances.
We invite you to meet us at Stage Two, up to 15 minutes before the first performance. Norwich Hamlets is a series of mini-plays, which unfold as a journey through our city. Using your map as your guide, you will discover unheard community stories and unique responses to Hamlet.
Performances will take place at the following spaces and times. Please book for either the 10:30 or 2:30 showing, beginning at Stage Two.

Prologue
“Welcome to Norwich, a fine city”

Green Girl
“I am a woman. I had a life. Shut down. No words, no pen, no paper.”
They say life stories never die. Green Girl celebrates life seen through shape-changing resurrections.
10:45 am / 2:45 pm, Stage Two
Something Rotten
“Two bees or not two bees, that is the question”
A comedy addressing the climate emergency, Something Rotten searches for the future prosperity of Norfolk.
11:15 am / 3:15 pm, Chapelfield Bandstand
Türk Hamlet
“Olmak ya da olmamak,işte bütün mesele bu”
A journey of displacement and a celebration of hopes for the future through the lens of Shakespeare.
11:45 am / 3:45 pm, City Hall
Aham
“But break, my heart, for I must hold my tongue.”
A movement through different cultures, emotions and narratives, Aham shares the universal experiences of life.

£5 – this donation supports Norwich Theatre’s ongoing community projects, and admission includes a souvenir broadsheet and map.

Norwich Hamlets is a series of short performances, taking place in various locations. The full experience involves walking from site to site. There is around 30 minutes of self-guided walking throughout the whole experience. If you have access requirements or need additional support, please contact the Box Office when booking. The full experience will last around 2 hours. We kindly ask you to arrive at Stage Two up to 15 minutes before each experience begins (i.e. at 10:15 am or 2:15 pm).
Each space is wheelchair accessible, and the route between performances is step-free. If you require additional access support, please contact the Box Office when booking.
You are welcome to use the toilets at Stage Two before the performances, and there are public toilets available at The Forum. There are no designated breaks during the performance. There are places to sit at each site, but the short performances can be enjoyed standing.
If heavy rain or storms are forecast, we may make the decision to cancel outdoor performances. In this event, you will be notified by email and phone. In light rain, outdoor performances will go ahead; you are welcome to bring an umbrella.
This ticketed option is for the full experience which includes all five performances. If you’d like to come along to any of the public performances – Something Rotten, Aham or Storytellers – you don’t need to book and can just turn up.

Activities are dependent on minimum numbers participating, in the event that we need to cancel due to low participant numbers, a full refund will be given. We are unable to offer refunds in other circumstances.
We work hard to ensure best practise and the safety of all who attend our activities. To do this we have a number of policies and procedures in place to support our participants and visitors.
