Sand
13 Oct 19:30
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Devon’s coastline, Sand follows Dylan and Heather as they navigate the complexities of living with dementia. Together, they uncover profound truths about love, memory, and resilience, while coastal erosion symbolises life’s inevitable changes.
Created by the acclaimed Kook Ensemble, Sand is a non-verbal circus theatre show that blends acrobatic skill with meticulously crafted storytelling. Through visually striking, emotionally resonant performances, the company brings the experiences of people living with dementia to life, offering audiences a deeply moving experience. A must watch!
Kook Ensemble presents Sand. Funded by Arts Council England. Supported by the Generate Programme by The National Theatre and co-commissioned by Corn Exchange and Landmark Theatres.

Reviews
“Sand dares to do something different. It sits in silence. It lets the movement breathe. It trusts that our emotions will do the listening. And that is its greatest strength.”
Theatre & Tonic“The innovative storytelling adopted by Kook Ensemble ensures Sand is visually as well as emotionally engaging.”
British Theatre Guide“My heart felt every emotion, every piece of empathy I have for people living with Dementia who are living or have died that I have cared for came back… you couldn’t have got this any more perfect. Astonishing piece of art and movement. This needs to be shown to more people.”
