This practical CPD workshop introduces teachers to Theatre Re’s distinctive approach to devising physical theatre and explores how simple actions can become the starting point for creating meaning, character and narrative.
Action is our starting point. Rather than beginning with text, participants will explore how the body can become the primary tool for storytelling, working with four fundamental elements at the heart of our practice: space, movement, weight and rhythm. Teachers will experience Theatre Re’s devising process from the inside and discover practical ways of applying these approaches in the classroom.
The workshop culminates in a composition exercise in which participants bring these different tools together to create their own movement score. Teachers leave with a practical toolkit of exercises, vocabulary and approaches that they can use to support students in practical projects, devising assessments and written evaluations.
