Wise, Bold, Visible Woman
This event is in the past
What is it?
A space to have fun, make friends and continue to explore creativity, enhanced by life experience. This project offers new mediums for you to express those rich, valuable impressions you have to draw on. Together, you will gain confidence and have an introduction to mixed media as an art form.
Over 8 weekly sessions, you will be story-telling through scriptwriting, imagery, body-mapping [large scale drawing to create life-size figures] and video projection. Each workshop will offer a safe, creative space to celebrate journey-stories of transformation, reinvention and identity.
A chance to champion unheard voices, the power of women and explore what comes next. Join us and offer your unique contribution to this collective project. An Elders Project for women.
What will I get from taking part?

- An introduction to integrating image and story
- Learn new skills
- Increased confidence
- Collaborate and share
Who will be leading the project?
Helen Wells is a multimedia artist layering hand drawn animation, film, text soundscape and performance to create work that has both personal significance and a connection to society and earth in which we live. Her work may become a video poem, a projection and performance, an installation or a play. Helen is currently touring her multimedia show ‘Sensitive Indicator’. Her performance, props and back screen animation interweave the plight of butterflies and insects due to climate change, set against her upbringing in the steel town of Sheffield and living alone in later life.
Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?
