Get your diaries out because here are some of the best shows coming to Norwich Theatre in 2025, which we can’t wait to see!  

Karl Minns Looks Back at 2024… With She Go and Friends | 8 – 19 Jan | Norwich Theatre Playhouse 

Start 2025 with a riot of laughter with Karl Minns. Karl is bringing all your favourite characters, including She Go, together for a Noo Yare’ look back at the last twelve months in Norfolk. Expect jokes, songs, blonde hair, a bald head and a cavalier use of the words: “Hare” and “Hentut”. 

Singin’ in the Rain | 28 Jan – 1 Feb | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Say Good Mornin’ to the Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society’s (NNOS) version of Singin’ in the Rain. Pouring with laughs, charm, romance, and wit, expect high-energy dance routines and classic songs from the movie. This is the perfect way to celebrate 100 years of NNOS.  

Lynn Faces | 28 Jan – 1 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two 

Alan Partridge’s long-suffering assistant, Lynn Benfield, provides the inspiration for a punk band in a hilarious new play, Lynn Faces, co-commissioned by Norwich Theatre. Nearing 40, painfully shy, and emerging from a toxic break-up, Leah forms a punk band inspired by Lynn and takes to the stage despite her lack of musical ability.  

The Girl on the Train | 4 – 8 Feb | Norwich Theatre Royal 

The Girl on the Train, starring Giovanna Fletcher, promises plenty of thrills. Full of twists and turns, Paula Hawkins’ bestselling story follows Rachel Watson, a troubled woman who watches the perfect couple each morning on the train. When the woman suddenly disappears, Rachel finds herself caught up in a thrilling mystery.  

Horrible Histories 3D: Awful Egyptians & Terrible Tudors | 26 Feb – 1 Mar | Norwich Theatre Royal 

We all want to meet people from history. The trouble is everyone is dead! But prepare yourselves for two amazing shows with Horrible Histories live on stage! Using actors and eye-popping 3D special effects, these astounding shows are guaranteed to thrill you and your children. Historical figures and events will come alive on stage and hover at your fingertips! 

English Touring Opera present: The Capulets and the Montagues | 14 Mar | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Bellini’s The Capulets and the Montagues is a gritty re-working of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, where loyalty and love are put to the test amidst political violence, set to exquisite bel canto operatic music that brings the story’s tragedy to the fore. 

Sad Book | 14 – 15 Mar | Norwich Theatre Playhouse 

Adapted from Michael Rosen’s award-winning book, Sad Book is a visually inventive, moving story about navigating complex emotions in the midst of everyday life. In this personal story of loss, a father explores the disconnection between what we feel and what we show and the different ways we deal with sadness. Sad Book makes the personal universal, retelling the story through dance and animation with original music. 

Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake | 18 – 22 Mar | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Matthew Bourne’s audacious, rule-breaking reinvention of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece is back! This classic story is retold in a thrilling and bold way, replacing the female corps-de-ballet with a menacing male ensemble. Perfect for those who like to see dance with a twist. 

Angela Barnes: Angst | 21 Mar | Norwich Theatre Playhouse 

A brand new stand-up show from Angela Barnes, star of Mock The Week and Live at The Apollo. This hilarious show has some stories of success and sound logic but mostly features stories of unmitigated failure, a distinct lack of wisdom, a little bit of German and loads of jokes. 

Lay Down Your Burdens | 28 Mar – 29 Mar | Norwich Theatre Royal 

If you are a fan of dance, why not try something a little different and be immersed in the action with Lay Down Your Burdens at Norwich Theatre Royal? On the stage, you will enter the pub to join in with the proceedings and participate in the fun and revelry as much as you like. 

Picture You Dead | 1 – 5 Apr | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Hot on the heels of the latest instalment of the acclaimed ITV Series Grace, Superintendent Roy Grace is back in a brand-new Peter James stage adaptation! Back home in Brighton, DSI Grace investigates a cold case that leads him to the secretive world of fine art, but beneath the respectable veneer lurks a dark underworld of deception and murder. 

Calamity Jane | 8 – 12 Apr | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Gosh, almighty! Grab a posse because the whip-crackin’ musical comedy classic Calamity Jane is rollin’ on over the plains to a theatre near you. Based on the much-loved Doris Day movie, this plumb fancy new production features sure-fire classic songs The Deadwood Stage (Whip-Crack-Away), The Black Hills of Dakota, Just Blew in from the Windy City, and the Oscar-winning Secret Love. 

Ghost Stories | 15 – 19 Apr | Norwich Theatre Royal 

The ultimate love-letter to horror is imagined live on stage in this production. It is a fully sensory and electrifying encounter and will keep you on the edge of your seat for a theatrical experience like no other. When Professor Goodman, arch-sceptic out to debunk the paranormal, embarks on an investigation of three apparent hauntings. 

 Knightmare Live | 24 Apr | Norwich Theatre Playhouse 

Light the beacons! Rouse the villagers! Gather all your courage… for the smash. The cult 90s TV classic Knightmare is back and heads to Norwich Theatre Playhouse. Sidestep is left into adventure as dungeon master Treguard brings the Knightmare dungeon back to where it all began.  

Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat | 30 Apr – 10 May | Norwich Theatre Royal 

One of the world’s most beloved family musicals is back and heading our way, and we cannot wait. Featuring much-loved pop and musical theatre classics, including Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door, There’s One More Angel In Heaven and Go, Go, Go, Joseph.  

Aled Jones: Full Circle | 8 May | Norwich Theatre Playhouse 

Prepare to hear Aled Jones, as you’ve never heard him before. He was the boy treble who captivated the world with his angelic voice. This one-man show will feature never-before-heard music and tales from the decades, and, for the first time, his story will be told in his own words. 

Dear Evan Hansen | 13 – 17 May | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Packed with some of the biggest musical theatre songs of the last decade, this is perfect for any musical fan. It has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide with its heartwarming story of Evan, an anxious high school kid.  

Guenther Steiner LIVE: Unfiltered | 29 May | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Buckle up and fasten your seatbelts. Former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner, star of Netflix’s smash hit docuseries Drive to Survive, will take the Norwich Theatre Royal audience into the pit lanes and onto the circuits of the world’s greatest race tracks. 

Rhys Darby | 7 Jun | Norwich Theatre Royal 

The Kiwi icon returns to the stage with a brand new stand-up show. In a world full of AI and Robot tech, can a simple dad with slightly tight jeans stay relevant? Ancient Astronaut Theorists say yes! Rhys hopes to prove that right now, a touch of very human silliness is more important than ever! 

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe | 8 – 12 Jul | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Step through the wardrobe into the magic kingdom of Narnia, where a world of wonder awaits. Join Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter as they meet new friends, face dangerous foes and learn the lessons of courage, sacrifice, and the power of love. 

The Rocky Horror Show | 28 Jul – 2 Aug | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Australian superstar Jason Donovan comes to Norwich in Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical, The Rocky Horror Show, as part of a new world tour.  The legendary performer reprises his iconic role as the captivating Frank-n-Furter across the UK. 

The Book of Mormon | 19 – 30 Aug | Norwich Theatre Royal 

The Mormons are back! This outrageous musical comedy from creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Bobby Lopez, co-writer of Avenue Q and Frozen, follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get. 

Hamilton | 16 Sep – 25 Oct | Norwich Theatre Royal 

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s multi award-winning cultural phenomenon Hamilton is coming to Norwich Theatre Royal for a 6 week season. Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today.   

War Horse | 28 Oct – 8 Nov | Norwich Theatre Royal 

War Horse is an unforgettable theatrical experience which takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France. At its heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage. 

Cinderella | 6 Dec – 4 Jan | Norwich Theatre Royal 

You will have a ball with this magical tale of love and hope. Cinderella dreams of life outside of the confines of her home, where she cleans, cooks and looks after her stepmother and stepsisters.  Like every good friend, her bestie Buttons keeps her spirits up as she finds out that her sisters are invited to the prince’s ball, but poor Cinders isn’t. Will Cinderella ever meet Prince Charming? Will her fairy Godmother make her dreams come true? Will there be some baddies to boo and hiss at? Of course! It’s panto.
