Grab your calendars because going on sale this month at Norwich Theatre, you have comedy galore, shows to get your little ones excited, mind-bending science and a musical that will be the last thing on your mind! 

A new musical from pop band Steps is heading to Norwich on a major tour and it would be a tragedy to miss it! Featuring Steps’ most beloved hit songs, Here and Now is set in the seaside superstore Better Best Bargains, and it is bound to make you stomp all night.  

Celebrating their 100th year Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society (NNOS) will be hosting their book launch For One Week Only 100 Years of Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society (11 Jan 25). This special event allows you to hear from the author and renowned theatre historian, who will share insights into the research and stories behind the book.   

Legend of Dance Dame Darcey Bussell (22 Feb 25) is coming to Norwich Theatre Royal during February’s Norwich Science Festival. She will be in conversation with Dr Peter Lovatt, a psychologist, to explore the art and science of dance. Other shows to look for during the science festival include at Norwich Theatre Playhouse Lieven Scheire – Artificial Intelligence (18 Feb 25), a unique blend of science and comedy; geneticist and author Dr Adam Rutherford (20 Feb 25), who will dismantle race myths that plague society. At Norwich Theatre Stage Two, don’t miss a fascinating workshop Through the Looking Glass (22 Feb 25), about how our bodies influence how we think; and Eat Me! Drink Me! (22 Feb 25) a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party exploring synaesthesia and neuroscience. 

Comedy-wise, we are already counting down till the hilarious Sara Pascoe (29 Mar 26) and the Kiwi icon that is Rhys Darby (7 Jun 25) return to Norwich Theatre Royal. Josh Widdicombe (12 Apr 26) will be talking tea, and over at Norwich Theatre Playhouse, don’t miss Viggo Venn (3 Feb 25), Nabil Abdulrashid (17 Apr 25), Joel Dommett (4 Jun 25) and Matt Richardson (28 Oct 25). Extra dates have been added for Nina Conti (10 Mar 25), Andy Zaltzman (1 Mar 25), Lou Sanders (19 Mar 25), John Shuttleworth (21 Apr 25) and Jamali Maddix (1 May 25). Karl Minns (8 – 19 Jan 25) will bring some of his favourite characters, including She Go, to take a look back on 2024. Expect a cavalier use of the words: “Hare” and “Hentut”. 

If your children loved this year’s panto Aladdin (7 Dec 24 – 5 Jan 25), keep their interest in theatre-going with an exciting range of children’s shows at the Playhouse and Stage Two going on sale this month. Everyone’s favourite patchwork elephant, Elmer, (27 – 29 Jun 25) is going on an adventure in a musical adaptation of the much-loved books by David McKee. The Koala Who Could (17 – 19 Jul 25) is a funny Australian Outback story about embracing change; Grow (19 Apr 25) is a joyful clowning show particularly aimed at budding gardeners from ages 2 – 6, but green-fingered fun for horticulturalists of all ages; and Shlomo’s Beatbox Adventure for Kids (11 Apr 25) welcomes the world record-breaking beatboxer who makes amazing music with just a mouth and a mic.
