When life gives you lemons…
Previously, Rhod was dealing with some pretty pungent life citrus, and an idiot called John. Little did he know that things were about to turn even more sour….But Rhod’s not bitter; he’s bouncing back and feeling remarkably zesty.
Hilariously dark, passionate and way too personal, this is classic Gilbert, squeezing every last drop out of life’s latest curveballs…with a little help from an old adversary.
This new live show sees Rhod back on stage doing what he does best. Candid, hilarious and uplifting, it’s a show about navigating the dark bits and turning life’s giant grapefruits into something approaching lemonade.
As one of the UK’s leading stand-up comedy talents, Rhod has enjoyed many successful years as a star of television and radio. He has written and presented three very personal documentaries. Most recently, A Pain in the Neck for Channel 4; a brutally honest and intimate programme following his diagnosis with head and neck cancer.
The documentary picked up numerous nominations, including the RTS Awards, the NTA Awards, the Edinburgh Awards, and the Grierson British Documentary Awards. It won the ‘Best Factual’ programme in the 2024 RTS Cymru Awards, and Rhod scooped ‘Best Presenter’ in the 2024 Bafta Cymru Awards.
Rhod currently hosts “Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains” for Comedy Central (now in its sixth series). He has written and presented nine series of Bafta Cymru award-winning ‘Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience’ (BBC One Wales and BBC Two across the network).
He’s hosted three series of ‘The Apprentice: You’re Fired’ and is the former host of ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’. He’s regularly hosted ‘Have I Got News for You?’ and has appeared countless times on ‘Qi’, ‘Would I Lie to You?’ and ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’. He made a very memorable splash on Bafta award-winning ‘Taskmaster’, has hosted ‘Live at The Apollo’ on multiple occasions and has performed three times on ‘The Royal Variety Performance’.
Rhod is proudly supporting Cancer Research UK on this tour. “After the year I’ve had, it’s wonderful to be alive and going back on the road. I can’t wait to get back on stage, and I’m ready to get way too personal about life’s recent ups and downs. When life gives you lemons, you have to squeeze them ’til the comedy juice flows, so prepare for some dark but funny s***.”
