Is that the door? No, it is a fantastic array of shows going on sale at Norwich Theatre. This month features a returning favourite, a Strictly superstar, a poetry legend, and the perfect treat for little ones.
The Mormons are back! Due to overwhelming demand, the outrageous musical comedy The Book of Mormon returns to Norwich Theatre Royal (19 – 30 Aug 25). From Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of South Park, and Bobby Lopez, co-writer of Avenue Q and Frozen, the show follows a pair of Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that’s a long way from their home in Salt Lake City.
Norwich Theatre presents Canada’s stunning dance company, Ballet British Columbia (10 – 11 Jun 25) are making their highly anticipated return to the UK in 2025 and a first visit to Norwich Theatre Royal. Based in Vancouver, this talented company of classically trained international dancers perform contemporary dance with exquisite grace, technical brilliance and a unique creative flair.
Dancing queen Oti Mabuse (14 Jun 25) is bringing the carnival to Norwich Theatre Royal. You will celebrate the world’s most electrifying festivals and carnivals in this one big party with this Strictly star.
Poetry legend Michael Rosen (16 Mar 25) visits Norwich Theatre Playhouse with his powerful one-person show Getting Through It, a double-bill of monologues exploring grief and mortality. Ahead of Michael’s appearance, an adaptation of his award-winning book Sad Book (14 – 15 Mar 25) heads to Norwich Theatre Playhouse. Sad Book makes the personal universal, retelling the story through dance and animation with original music.
Norwich Theatre is teaming up with the Norwich Book Festival to celebrate stories for all kinds of readers with a range of talks at Norwich Theatre Stage Two on 27 Oct. Mother State Helen Charman is here with a new manifesto for motherhood. She’s ready to make a radical case for what liberated mothering could be. The Laws of Connection sees award-winning science journalist and author David Robson explore why social connection is so important and how it can improve health, wellbeing, creativity and financial stability. Joseph Coelho and Ashley Hickson-Lovence will explore the role of the outsider in young adult fiction, and the art of writing. Heather Richardson invites you to join her for a moving evening of memoir and making, as she tells the story of her aunt, Kathleen, whose life was cut tragically short at just 14.
English Touring Opera (ETO) returns to Norwich Theatre Royal with a tale of two households, both alike in dignity, and two lovers, doomed by the conflict between their families. Bellini’s The Capulets and the Montagues (14 Mar 25) is a gritty re-working of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, where loyalty and love are put to the test. ETO’s Shakespeare season continues in Norwich Theatre Stage Two with Shakespeare season continues with two children shows in Stage Two with Shakespeare Songs (15 Mar 25) and The Vanishing Forest (15 Mar 25).
If you are into your comedy, you need to check out the latest comedians going on sale this month. At Norwich Theatre Playhouse, you can see Emma Sidi (25 Nov 24) and her character-comedy phenomenon, Sue Gray; Josh Berry (2 Feb 25) talking about masculinity and his hatred for runners; TikTok comedian Shabaz Ali (28 Mar 25); Spain’s funniest export Ignacio Lopez (16 Apr 25); and George Lewis (7 Mar 25) who is back due to popular demand. At Norwich Theatre Royal, podcaster and comedian Sophie McCartney (23 Mar 25) takes to the stage looking at the next decade of her life.
Grimm’s most magical tales are heading to Norwich Theatre Stage Two in The Frog & The Princess and other stories (9 Mar 25). These magical tales are told through wonderful puppets and spellbinding original music. If you are up for more family fun, join the Magical Mr West on his Adventures in Science (16 Feb 25). Or why not try comedian Ignacio Lopez’s (16 Apr 25) family-friendly sci-fi stand-up show at Norwich Theatre Playhouse. Whipped Up! (16 Mar 25) is perfect for your little one’s first trip to the theatre. Featuring sensory play served up throughout the show, you will experience an unfolding comedy that takes place in a 1950s diner.
