The annual Norwich Science Festival is coming at full velocity this February half term, and at Norwich Theatre we are hosting a whole heap of shows for it! Check out the wild, whacky and wisdom-full shows coming in. So while you can’t trust an atom because they make everything up, you can trust that these shows are going to be full of fun. 

The Zoo That Comes to You | 15 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two
Follow two wildlife enthusiasts and their cheeky puppet friends as they leave their sanctuary behind and bring the zoo to you! Meet an Orangutan, Blue Iguana, Green Sea Turtle and more, discovering the challenges these animals face in a rapidly changing world. With live music, playful characters and interactive storytelling, this family-friendly puppet show explores animal conservation and habitat change. 

The scien-terrific element: This epic show will inspire audiences of all ages by showcasing nature’s brilliance and how small actions can make a big difference. 

Lessons from the Edge with Aldo Kane | Sun 15 Feb | Norwich Theatre Royal
Step into the world’s most hostile and awe-inspiring environments with adventurer and best-selling author, Aldo Kane. From volcanoes and jungles to war zones and Everest, Aldo has faced danger at every turn. Groove Baby: Groove on the Moon| 16 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two
Prepare to blast off on a cosmic adventure! Join three intrepid astronauts on a mission to find Neil Armstrong’s first lunar footprint, meeting aliens and solving daring challenges along the way. This exciting mix of live music and interactive theatre invites the whole family to enjoy funk, jazz and rock from the brilliant Groove Baby Organ Trio. 

The scien-terrific element: With lots of mesmerising animation and audience participation, this is perfect for budding astronauts and grown-ups alike.

The Great Big Bug Show | 17 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two
Join poet Simon Mole and musician Gecko for a family show full of poems, raps and songs all about your favourite bugs (and some you haven’t heard of yet!). As well as being brilliantly beautiful, delightfully disgusting and wonderfully weird, the show is an inspirational call to action to appreciate the smaller creatures in our world. Expect Minibeasts and Massive Beats.

The scien-terrific element: A fun and interactive invitation to explore the secret world beneath our feet. Every tune is an earworm – even the ones about woodlice!

The Universe and The Neurodiverse | Thu 19 Feb | Norwich Theatre Playhouse
What if being ‘a bit weird’ is actually completely normal? What if sharing our internal struggles is a sign of strength rather than weakness? Expect stories of chimpanzees and astronauts, of starlight and falcons in this unmissable show about mental health, creativity, and what it means to embrace our uniqueness.

The scien-terrific element: Explore what it is to be human and the incredible diversity of our minds with award-winning comedian and broadcaster Robin Ince. 

Biomimicry: How Nature Inspires Engineering | Sat 21 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two
Discover how biology and engineering combine in this interactive family show exploring biomimicry! Get up close and hands-on with snakes, lizards, tarantulas and cockroaches, and learn how they inspire cutting-edge technology – from gecko sticky tape to snake venom in medication.

The Environmental Time Machine Show | Sat 21 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two
Travel through time with ZooLab’s Environmental Time Machine in this exciting family show! Join a Ranger and get up close with amazing animals – snails, scorpions, snakes and more – as we explore how humans have shaped the planet.

The science-terrific element: Jump between the past, present… and possible futures to look at how climate change is affecting Earth and how we can help protect it. 

Brilliant Biomimicry | Sat 21 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two  
Get up close with biomimicry in this hands-on workshop from ZooLab. Building on the themes of the earlier show, this intimate session takes a deeper dive into how nature has inspired scientists and engineers to design new materials, technologies, and ways of doing things.

The scien-terrific element: Get hands-on with the incredible animals, and take part in the experiments and challenges throughout.
