Get ready to make some noise! On 4 August, Norwich Theatre is inviting families of all generations to the highlight of this year’s Family Festival: a high-energy Community Singalong outside the front of Norwich Theatre Royal with the lyrics on the big screen.

Designed to bring children, parents, and grandparents together through the magic of music, this outdoor event is all about getting together as a family and singing along to iconic musical theatre showstoppers.

Led by Vocal Coach and Musical Director Jodie Moore (Not Your Average Choir), the setlist includes:

  • I Just Can’t Wait to Be King (The Lion King)
  • Naughty (Matilda the Musical)
  • You’re The One That I Want (Grease)
  • Time Warp (The Rocky Horror Show)

Participants are being asked to gather from 12.30pm, with the Community Singalong starting at 1pm. No booking required, just turn up and sing your heart out!

Sam Beal, Head of Creative Engagement at Norwich Theatre, said: “This is all about getting families together to let loose, have fun, and raise their voice. You don’t need to be a professional singer; whether you only sing in the shower, belt out tunes in the car on the school run, or perform in the living room, everyone is welcome!”

The fun doesn’t end with the music! The Family Festival features a lineup of free creative, hands-on drop-in workshops running throughout the day for all ages.

You can craft your very own characters during a hands-on Puppet Making session with Animus Puppetry. Alternatively, help decorate a theatre set inspired by this year’s pantomime, The All New Adventures of Peter Pan, in a set art workshop hosted by Reprezent Project.

The Family Festival is part of our Creative Families programme, which is made possible thanks to the support of: The Paul Bassam Charitable Trust, The Simon Gibson Charitable Trust & The Educational Foundation of Alderman John Norman.
