What is it?
Norwich Theatre’s Boys Movement Company is a bold and inclusive group, introducing boys aged between 11-18 to the vast range of physical theatre, dance and movement styles across our stages and beyond.
Through high-energy practical workshops, masterclasses with professionals and touring companies, film screenings and tickets to shows, participants will be immersed in the dynamism and passion of physical theatre and dance. Far from a standard dance group, the Boys Movement Company seeks to nurture diverse talent through exclusive access to world-renowned companies and practitioners in a supportive, collaborative and accessible environment.
What will I get from taking part?
By joining the BMC, you are entering a supportive and collaborative community to express yourself through physicality and creativity. You will have access to talented local, national and international performers, dancers and choreographers with opportunities to ask questions, network and develop skills. Included in the programme are tickets to shows and visiting workshops.
This company will foster friendships, resilience, confidence and development of skills. Covering dance, fight choreography, physical theatre and more- these sessions aim to open up a world of possibilities and provide a range of experiences.
Who is leading the project?
The BMC will be led by actor, director, choreographer and dancer Ben Nash. Since graduating from Bodywork Company Cambridge, Ben has used his diverse skill set across all performance platforms – both live and recorded. With a career spanning twenty years, his work ranges from roles in television, theatre and commercials to being a regular on Glastonbury’s Shangri-La stage. Ben has worked with: ABC Theatre Cambridge, Stratford Circus London, Bristol Old Vic and Breakin’ Convention.
Alongside Ben, the company will be introduced to professional dancers, choreographers and directors through masterclass-style sessions.
