CULTURAL CELEBRATION Taster Session

Close

This event has passed.

What is it?
Part of our Contemporary Freedom of Movement programme, this new project offers space for sharing culture, traditions, enjoyment and inspiration. Traditional dances are often deeply rooted in the collective memory of a community. You are invited to take a glimpse into how movement can evoke a sense of nostalgia and connect us to a shared heritage. A chance to celebrate what happens when traditional dance is interwoven into the modern landscape.

What will I get from taking part?

  • Experience a few exercises.
  • Meet the creative practitioner.
  • The chance to ask questions about this new Theatre Makers project.

Who will be leading the project?
Anne Tiburtius has over 45 years of experience in Bharatanatyam, a classical form of dance from South India. She is artistic director of Natyapriya, a dance company specialising in Indian classical and folk dancing. Anne also specialises in dance-drama and compositions that are a synthesis of styles which often incorporate the spoken word.

Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?
No experience is needed, anyone age 18+ is welcome and will be supported.

I’m not sure I can afford to take part.
This taster session is free to attend. If you would like to take part in the main programme but cost is a barrier, we have bursary spaces available. To find out if you are eligible go to https://norwichtheatre.org/my-theatre/
