Internationally acclaimed vocalist, Jacqui Dankworth, presents her celebration of the incredible musical legacy of Stephen Sondheim. Jacqui is joined by American pianist Charlie Wood, who leads a world-class group of musicians for this intimate concert, which explores a sparkling collection of Sondheim’s most celebrated music, inspired by Jacqui’s own collaborations with Stephen Sondheim.
Sondheim’s brilliance in combining lyrics and music broke new ground in Musical Theatre, and his work would go on to cover an incredible spectrum of work – from ‘West Side Story’ and ‘Gypsy’, through to ‘Into the Woods’, ‘Sweeny Todd’, ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum’, and ‘Follies’. Who better to steer you through this incredible body of work than Jacqui Dankworth, who, alongside her incredible music career, had the pleasure of working with Sondheim on the British premiere of ‘Merrily We Roll Along’, and also in the London premiere of ‘Into the Woods’.
Expect a truly world-class evening of music, featuring fresh interpretations of Sondheim’s most acclaimed music, stylish reworkings of his lesser-known gems, as well as a few surprises along the way.

Reviews
“Makes almost any material sound special.”
The Guardian“One of our finest singers, regardless of category.”
Sunday Times“Had I not been sitting about three feet away from the action, I would have suspected some kind of electronic trickery because the
arrangement was so complex, the timing so nifty, and Ms Dankworth’s vocal control is so exquisite.”
