Taverham Band, based near Norwich, is proud to be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2024.  Formed in November 1974 by a small team of villagers, the Band now consists of some 36 volunteer members performing a wide range of concerts and charitable events across Norfolk and beyond.

In 2012 the Band performed as part of Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations at Sandringham House in Norfolk and returned to Sandringham in 2013 to take part in the Sandringham Flower Show in the presence of the then Prince of Wales.

Three years later in 2016, the Band performed in Ypres, Belgium (at the Menin Gate Last Post ceremony) and in June 2017 at the Kew Musical Museum and Windsor Castle. May 2018 saw the Band performing 2 concerts on the Fred Olsen Balmoral Norwegian Fjords Cruise.  The Band also produced a series of outdoor ‘Proms in the Park’ style events at Taverham Hall near Norwich from 1995 to 2013.  Entitled ‘Exploding Brass!’ a total of 9 such events raised over £120,000 for local causes.

The Band prides itself in involving local musicians of a wide age range in making music for the benefit of members and the public and using those talents to support a wide range of projects through concert performances.

2024 sees the Band marking their special year with a concert tour in Germany and a Gala Concert at the Norwich Playhouse Theatre.  Vocalist Ben Lake (The Voice UK and West End performer), who performed with the Band in some of the Exploding Brass! concerts, is reuniting with the Band for the Gala Concert.
