Norwich Theatre’s new autumn programme of creative experiences includes brand new wellbeing workshops; a programme of events exploring motherhood; and a creative writing project with a national partner to identify the stories of our times.
Norwich Theatre has teamed up with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) for 37 Plays. A new national playwriting project which seeks the stories of our times. To help you create your play for submission Norwich Theatre will host The Scriptwriters Series (18 July 2022 – 30 August 2022) at Norwich Theatre Playhouse’s Playroom. Each session will allow you to hone your scriptwriting skills throughout the five focused writing groups. Our special guest writers will deliver these free sessions, including James McDermott, Molly Naylor, Archie Maddocks and CJ Lloyd Webley.
Come and unwind with Norwich Theatre, a series of wellbeing workshops dedicated to helping you de-stress from your day. Unwind with Movement (8 September – 6 October) will help you connect the mind and body with meditation, gentle dance movements and breathing techniques. Unwind with Words (13 October – 10 November) will see you explore different writing techniques to use the power of words to help reduce stress and calm the mind. These sessions are for you to relax and no experience in writing or dancing is necessary.
Adult Theatre Makers: Women’s Project will celebrate women’s strength, power, resilience and courage. This project will allow participants to share and have a platform for their stories. This project is open to anyone who identifies as a woman.
For those interested in dance, there is a fabulous range of sessions from Jazz and Musical Theatre Dance Workshops where you can practise jazz dance techniques and Ballet for Over 50s for a supportive ballet class open to everyone regardless of experience. Also on offer is Northern Ballet- Over 55s Workshop, which will see participants learn from the professionals right on the Theatre Royal stage!
Norwich Theatre’s Creating through Motherhood programme has been designed to encourage mothers at any stage in their journey to dedicate an hour each week to a creative activity, express themselves and form support with other mothers. The series starts with writing (7 September 2022 – 5 October 2022), where a female writing practitioner will provide ideas on how to express yourself through writing and feel the benefits of putting pen to paper. The next in the series is Making, and will see participants make a storybook and will focus on creating a communal book on the experience of being a mother. Every kind of mother and non-binary parent of any age is welcome. We also welcome bumps and babes in arms. However, there will be no provision for toddlers, older babies, or children. The focus of these sessions is you, as a mother.
Your little ones won’t miss out with our Music and Movement for Babies and Toddlers (9 September – 18 November). These sessions feature multi-sensory props to help your child explore moving and dancing to great music. For those who love to sing, why not kick off your weekend with some joyous family fun with the Family Choir with Come and Sing (1 October).
