Norwich Theatre is delighted to announce Business in Motion, a brand-new professional development series that will use theatre skills and creativity to provide hands-on, impactful training for local business professionals.
The series will begin with three dedicated Business in Motion: Public Speaking sessions (1 Sep, 19 Jan & 20 Jan) at Norwich Theatre Playhouse. These unique, hands-on workshops, led by Joseph Arkley from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), will take place on the stage. Participants will learn theatre techniques to build confidence and empower them to speak in public and deliver their message with impact.
Attendees will master techniques such as connecting with their voice, presenting effectively to an audience, understanding and utilising body language, and mastering breathing techniques and vocal range.
This initiative builds on the success of a hugely popular public speaking workshop hosted in 2024 in conjunction with the Co.Next programme through Norfolk Chambers of Commerce, designed for young professionals and members of the Young Cultural Leaders programme.
Lauren Farley, Business Development Manager at Norwich Theatre, said: “From interviews to pitching new ideas, holding your own in the workplace is an important skill for anyone, no matter what your level. Our Business in Motion professional development courses harness the creative skills and techniques from the theatre sector to give you the confidence that is crucial for professional growth.”
Joseph Arkley said: “This session will equip participants with a range of technical performance tools, whilst leaning into each individual’s unique strengths and quirks. In today’s world, there’s often a push for perfection. However, public speaking truly shines when individuals embrace their imperfections.
“In my experience, weaknesses often unlock the most captivating part of any story. As someone who has succeeded (and bombed!) on multiple stages and in public settings, I can relate to the challenges of public speaking first-hand. My background in the Arts has taught me to embrace risk and use it to forge deeper connections with an audience, and I am here to offer constructive and empathetic guidance.”
The course costs £187.50 per person and includes a full-day training session from 9 am to 4 pm, with tea, coffee, and lunch provided.
An early bird discount of 25% is available to everyone if courses are booked before Friday 4 July.
Group bookings are also available (for bookings over 5 people). For more information please contact 01603 598556 or email corporate@norwichtheatre.org. To book your tickets please visit norwichtheatre.org.
