Royal Shakespeare Company 37 Plays Celebration: a double bill

A unique opportunity to share in a free performance of readings from the Royal Shakespeare Company’s New Folio.

2023 marks the 400th anniversary of the publication of Shakespeare’s First Folio; the first time his plays were brought together in one book. The RSC and Associate Regional Theatres are marking this anniversary by selecting and celebrating a series of 37 brand new plays that reflect the world we live in today. Here at Norwich Theatre, we are excited to be hosting two of the chosen 37.

North Star by Tom Murray is based on real events: when Nazi Deputy Leader, Rudolf Hess, flew a solo plane to Scotland in 1941 to end the war and crash landed in a farmer’s field.

As of October, Tom will be taking up the position of Peter Shaffer Playwright in Residence at Trinity College, Cambridge.

The Ever Changing Sea by Jordon Grant tells the story of Joe and Ciaran, two boys from a care home. Joe has been rejected by a local fisherman who has been grooming him, and thinks he can hear the sea talking to him. Wading out, he goes in and out of the water changing form.

Jordon is a North-Eastern writer from Billingham, who studied playwriting with Stephen Jeffreys at RADA.

Why not join our celebratory afternoon and be one of the first audience to share in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s new folio.
