We are particularly excited for the UK’s first visit by the internationally famous Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra of Colón Opera. Their colourful programme will begin with Wagner’s Prelude & Liebestod from his most romantic opera, Tristan & Isolde.

Following this in the first half, we will have a unique opportunity to hear Piazzola’s Bandoneon Concerto. A Bandoneon is an Argentinian type of piano accordion, which we are sure will delight our Norwich audience. The second half begins with Bizet’s dazzling orchestral suite from his great opera Carmen followed a suite from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, the music of which has been tantalising audiences since it was composed in 1876. Next there will be a chance to hear music from another Argentinian composer, Ginastera – his Estancia Suite.

The concert ends with a real treat, probably the most famous piece written by Argentina’s greatest composer Astor Piazzola, his ever-popular Libertango.
