Theatre Cares – A Life in Music is an exciting new participatory programme for people living with mild to moderate dementia and their carers. We know that music can improve the wellbeing of people living with dementia and can be a positive shared experience between loved ones.
What to expect
After welcoming you into the theatre with teas, coffees and biscuits, participants and carers together will be led through each activity by our musician Tessa Wingate. With a different focus each week, you can look forward to getting hands on with drums, chimes, a harp, hammered dulcimer and other stringed and small percussion instruments, as well exploring singing and songwriting through different genres including folk and blues. Participants will be able to join in whichever way they are comfortable or able to do so, and prior experience is not necessary.
This project is an exciting collaboration between Musical Keys and Norwich Theatre to explore music in all its forms. We will provide a safe space for people to have fun with experienced practitioners. All workshops will be very relaxed and set to a leisurely paced with a small number of participants to allow for maximum contact with practitioners. Music workshops will be fortnightly over the year.
There is a taster workshop on 22nd September, 10am-12 noon, Norwich Theatre Long Bar, which is bookable on our website. Places are limited and must be booked beforehand.
