What is it?
Play in a Day is a fun, welcoming introduction to theatre‑making, designed especially for home‑educated young people. Through games, movement and creative exploration, participants work together to create and perform a short, original piece of theatre in just one day.
The session begins with inclusive warm‑ups and drama games before exploring performance through acting, directing, movement and physical theatre. Everyone is encouraged to share ideas and shape the final piece, which will be performed at the end of the session for family members.
What will I get from taking part?
Drama‑based activities support young people to:
- Build confidence and self‑expression
- Develop communication, literacy and language skills
- Collaborate and work positively with others
- Explore creativity in a supportive, low‑pressure environment
No pressure, no auditions and no expectations — Play in a Day is about enjoyment, creativity and working together. Previous performing experience is not required.
Who will lead the session?
Play in a Day is led by a Norwich Theatre Practitioners who are experienced in working with young people and creating inclusive, engaging workshops.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
No prior drama experience is needed — just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to take part.
Do parents need to stay?
Parents and carers can drop off from just before 10am and collect at 3pm.
There will be a short, informal sharing of the work at 2:45pm, and parents carers and families are very welcome to return and watch what the group has created.
